Road to Jaffna

The north of Sri Lanka has its own charm. The region, finally rebuilding and healing after along civil war, still bears the scars from the tumultuous period. My closest college-mate during post-graduation was from Sri Lanka. We have spent hours talking about culture, culinary and impacts of the ongoing conflict in the north….. so travelling to Jaffna was a dream coming true for me. The historic Elephant pass – the road through lagoons, salt and green fields- and finally arriving the city of Jaffna- an experience in itself. I did not have much time to explore the city but did not miss a quick glimpse of Nallur Kovil temple, Jaffna fort, library and most importantly the Rio Icecream- the must-visit place in Jaffna!
