Hydrological Studies on Gangotri Glacier

National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), is one of the pioneering institute has studied several glaciers in India. NIH is persistently measuring the scientific records of the Gangotri glacier in Uttarakhand. It is a well known fact that the Gangotri glacier is one of the largest    glaciers of Indian Himalaya. The objective of the documentary film is a collection of hydrological data to determine the water yield from this glacier and to develop a hydrological model. It includes melting, the run off and the other hydrological processes. This is a pure scientific documentary on the glacier and useful for planning and management of water resources, operations and designs of hydrological structure of Gangotri glacier system. The film production is supported by the department of science and technology (DST), government of India.

Himalaya Par Aapada

Disaster on Himalaya is a combination of disaster stories happened in the Indian Himalayan state Uttarakhand. It has rare footage covered before and after the disaster happened. Filmmaker completed this documentary taking more then five years, so in this way it is a rare documentation of disaster and natural calamities took place in the fragile mountain ecosystem in the regions of Bhagirathi, Mandakini and Ganga river valleys. It is first factual documentary who raised the issue of controlled pilgrimage towards Gamukh, the origin of holy Gaga. Later, the Government of Uttarakhand banned influx of pilgrim in the region, by establishing a check post near Gangotri temple. This documentary raised the question of banning ‘Kanwarias –religious barefoot devotees’ in the region.Produced and directed by Jayprakash Panwar.
