Pasikuda and Kalkudah beaches are like twin sisters on the East Coast. These exceptional paradise beaches are relatively new destinations in Sri Lanka for luxury beach holidays, especially Pasikuda, and Kalkudah if you are looking for a relaxed beach vibe. Luxury resorts are lined up in Pasikuda whereas Kalkudah’s desert-island feel makes it popular with those seeking pure escapism and few distractions.

These untouched beaches allow you to enjoy tranquility and serenity while soaking up some sun rays. After the civil war in Sri Lanka and the Tsunami in 2004, tourism activities in this area experienced a downfall. However, at present Pasikuda is making a comeback as a tourist destination. It is popular with European (mostly British and German) tourists, yet it gets the attention of Asians (mainly Indian or Chinese). I am on a work travel though and this morning it feels like I slept the night on the beach.
